It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of HACA’s Vice President, Stan Shiraishi.
Stan was a beloved husband, father and friend, in his 76th year. He passed away suddenly at St. Joseph’s Hospital on June 5, 2016. Stan will be deeply missed by his wife Davina, stepson Craig Murdoch, and stepdaughter Nikki Newton.
Stan was lover of golf, but his passion was curling. He played competitively for many years and was a long standing member of the Dundas Valley Golf & Country Club.
Stan’s true passion was to promote the game of curling. He was the workhorse behind HACA. Stan was instrumental in taking care of HACA’s day to day operations as well as leading a number of initiatives that positively supported curling at all levels. He was a driving force behind the introduction and promotion of curling within the Greater Hamilton Area and a strong advocate for youth curling. Stan was available whenever and wherever he was needed. He had the desire, passion and drive to get what needed to be done, done. His enthusiasm was contagious and his commitment was unwavering.
Stan will be truly missed by those who knew him and by the curling community at large.
Hurry Hard Stan!
